2019年3月2日・3日にわたり、イスラエルから演出家・俳優のオフェル・アムラムさんをお招きし、ワークショップとトークを開催しました。

オフェルさんが2016年から舞台演出家として関わっているアートセンター「Nalaga’at Center（ナラガット・センター）」は、盲ろう者・視覚障害者・聴覚障害者が関わる舞台作品の創作・発表をおこない、そのユニークな活動が国際的にも注目されています。

今回は、3月3日(土)に東京都港区のスパイラルにて開催いたしましたトークの模様をレポートします。

前日のワークショップ同様この日も、日英通訳さん、手話通訳さん、モニターでの要約筆記の情報保障を行いました。

イスラエル・テルアビブの港町ヤッホにある「ナラガット・センター」の設立経緯や活動を紹介し、自身が演出した舞台「Edger」（2016）の制作プロセスについて語るオフェルさん。

「Edger」に主演した盲ろうの男性との出会い。
そして、約半年間に渡る制作の中で、障害を持った方が舞台に上がるために、
どのような工夫をしていったかなど、とても興味深いお話をお聞きすることができました。

まず脚本があって、そこに当てはまるキャストを探すのではなく、
出会ったアクターの特性や人格から発想して作品を作っていくというオフェルさん。

とても時間のかかる制作方法ですが、
そうすることで「作品に関わってくれた人々の世界観を拡げることができた」と言います。

例えば、盲ろうの人が大股で歩くにはどうしたら良いか？
声を出すことにためらいを持っている人が、舞台で声を出すにはどうすれば良いのか？
そういった表現的課題を見つけだし、解決する方法を見出していくことによって、その人の世界が拡がっていくのです。

会場に集まってくださった皆さんも真剣に聞き入っていました。

最後に観客からの質問。

ナラガット・センターの資金源や、出演者に支払われる対価、宣伝方法などの現実的な質問から、どうやって様々な障害を持った方に楽しんでもらえるようにできるかという試行錯誤に関する質問まで、一つ一つ丁寧に答えてくださいました。

ワークショップ、トークと、とても充実した二日間でした。

印象に残ったのは、オフェルさんの人間としての誠実さ。
一つ一つの課題に対して、丁寧に解決策を見出していくことで、
実現していく表現があるのだということです。

この貴重な機会で得た種を、それぞれの生活や表現の場に持ち帰ってもらえると嬉しいです。

SLOW LABEL held a workshop and talk with Ofer Amram, Israeli theater director/ performer, who directed a theater production with blind, deaf and deaf-blind performers at “Nalaga’at Center” in 2016. This is a report of the talk event at  Spiral in Minato-ku, Tokyo on March 3.

As well as the workshop, the Japanese-English interpretation, the sign language interpretation and the subscribing were provided, as we had various audience including hearing impaired/ deaf and blind people.

Ofer Amram introduced various activities of  “Nalaga’at Center”, which includes theater, cafe, restaurant and workshop space. He also talked about the 6-months production process of “Edger” (2016) . It was very impressive that instead of looking for a cast that fits there, he creates ideas from the characteristics and personality of people he encountered. It might take more time than usual production, but he said “it expanded the world of the people involved in the process”. For example, how should a deaf-blind performer walk in a large crotch?
How should a person with hesitation to speak out be able to speak out on the stage?
By noticing those points and finding ways to solve them, the world and the possibility of the person was broaden.

Audience was very focused during the talk. Some question arose from the audience such as  funding sources for the Nalaga’at Center, advertising methods to develop audience, and payment for performers, and challenges to engage people with various disabilities.

It was a very fulfilling two days for SLOW LABEL to learn a lot. We would be happy if we could bring the seeds from this valuable opportunity back to our practice. Thank you very much for Ofer and everyone who join our program.
